## How is tax calculated on my Flexcar?

Your total price includes any state and local taxes that legally apply to your specific pickup location. Depending on where you're picking up, this can include:

1.  **State sales/use tax** — applies in every state where we operate.
2.  **County or city tax** — some counties and cities add their own local rate on top of the state rate.
3.  **Special district surcharges** — a small number of cities (e.g. Boston and Auburn, MA) charge a flat per-rental surcharge instead of a percentage-based rate.

Because these rates are set by state and local governments (not by Flexcar) and can change, the exact amount for your trip is calculated automatically based on your pickup location and shown in full before you complete checkout.
